Poem: The Buddha Line

© Orla Grant

The train departs every hour
It goes in one direction
Your ticket’s ready for collection.

Detach,
Detach,
Detach.

Leave all your baggage at home
Pack some rose-tinted specs,
Sit back; chant a few OMs.

Detach,
Detach,
Detach.

Each station will be a different year
Watch your life on a movie reel
Separate memories from how you feel.

Detach,
Detach,
Detach.

You can’t alter what you see
But you can change the way you feel
The past has no power over you.

So
Detach,
Detach,
Detach.
